National Lampoon, the company that brought you comedy treasures such as ‘Animal House’ and ‘Vacation’, are moving in different direction. They have formed a distribution company worldwide which will give them greater control over their own work.
“This is a new era for National Lampoon,” said Tom Daniels, President Worldwide Distribution at National Lampoon. “To be producing and taking direct control of our own content both domestically and abroad is a clear statement of the faith we have in our material and our commitment to taking back this brand. People are responding very well and we have already consummated several major partnerships across the world. We look forward to making to further announcements in this area shortly.”
National Lampoon plans on releasing 12 titles a year. The first release will be ‘National Lampoon’s Bag Boy’, starring Brooke Shields and Dennis Farina and directed by Mort Nathan (Kingpin, Van Wilder).Â
Since 2002 the company has started to focus its goal to become a mini-movie studio. With today’s announcement of worldwide distribution, it looks like it is starting to pay off for the company.
