Parker Posey stars as Nora Wilder, a thirty something woman living in New York City. Nora seems to have it all- she’s a beautiful woman with lots of friends and a good job. But Nora is not happy. She depends on pills and alcohol to get her through her many anxiety attacks. Most of her anxiety centers on the fact that she is getting older and she still has not found the perfect man to settle down with and start a family.

Nora finally meets an interesting Frenchman, Julian (Melvil Poupaud) at a friends party. But Julian must go back home to Paris. Nora decides to quit her job and find Julian in Paris, a city with a population of more than 2 million.

Seems that “Broken English” is trying to be the “Sex in the City” of the silver screen. While “Sex in the City” is more entertaining, ‘Broken English’ will please fans that miss seeing the popular show on HBO.

  1. Peter Nellhaus Says:

So how does Zoe Cassavetes compare as a filmmaker to her father, or brother, for that matter? Any family influence that you may have noted?

  2. Mary M Says:

The movie was beautifully shot but the story line was quite weak and predictable.
