“Midnight Meat Train” is directed by critically acclaimed Japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura (‘Versus,” “Azumi,” “Sky Hight”) in his American debut, and is based on legendary horror writer Clive Barker’s popular, short story from his classic Books of Blood collection.

    So. Excited. And almost certainly setting myself up for disappointment.

    Hang in there; it might be good. But, I guess since Barker is so popular; it might be a let down. Movies are not like books. It’ll be interesting to see how they capture the story.

    It might be good. I try to go easy on adaptations because like you say, movies are not like books. From what I’ve read (maybe I even read it here on Screenhead?), the essence of the story is in tact, but it’s not exactly a direct adaptation.

    Exactly, very rarely do you see a direct adaptation. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the film when it comes out.
