One of the most prolific directors in contemporary film is Michael Winterbottom. While some films have gotten wider release than others, Winterbottom seems to have at least one new film each year. His range includes adaptations of classic novels, such as Jude, the science fiction film Code 46, the war film Welcome to Sarajevo, and the hilarious rock and roll comedy 24 Hour Party People.
In an interview posted at Coming Soon, Winterbottom discusses the making of A Mighty Heart, including the logistics of filming partially in Pakistan, where much of the film takes place. There has been some controversy concerning the casting of Angelina Jolie as Mariane Pearl which will hopefully be put to rest. Winterbottom explains that Pearl (seen above) chose Jolie, and that the two established a friendship before filming started. A Mighty Heart opens this Friday.

I never realised Pearl chose Jolie, that’s good to know at the next pub-based argument.
My concern is the current IMDB score that the film has. 5.6? Not good.
