Michael Moore is the focus of the new documentary “Manufacturing Dissent”. The film shows filmmakers Rick Caine and Debbie Melnyk trying to track down the man that has brought us films such as “Roger and Me”, “Bowling For Columbine”, and “Fahrenheit 911″. At first, Caine and Melnyk wanted to make a film promoting Moore but as the fact checked his films they noticed inaccuracies and wanted answers. Unfortunately for the filmmakers, Moore must have learned how to hide from the cameras from the people he has stalked throughout the years because they could not pin him down.
The closest the pair come to tracking Moore down was when, as Moore did in “Roger and Me”, they dressed as a local camera crew looking for a quick interview when he visited Kent State University. Moore’s sister, not fooled, knocks the camera away and gets security to haul the pair away.
The film played last month at the South By Southwest festival and is playing tonight and Tuesday at Hot Docs Festival.
