The executives at HBO have their heads so far stuck up their rear ends that they could not see the swimming-pool-full-of-money potential of a Preacher series. I mean come on: vampires, assassins, God and tons of awesome characters in one place? Really, HBO? However, the producers are now working on getting a movie made, and ComingSoon talked to director Sam Mendes about how the adaptation is going along. He is set to direct from a script by John August.
Mendes is very hopeful of August’s material, noting it to be “incredible”. As for cramming the whole series into a movie, he said that they wouldn’t dare do that, saying that “it wouldn’t do justice of it… there’s so much wonderful stuff that I wouldn’t know what to leave out.”
Hopefully HBO will come to their senses and sanction a series. Now that would be pure awesomeness.
