McG to Ruin… I mean… Direct Terminator 4?
The film, set for release in 2009, has the opportunity to be an explosive addition to the series, for the first time focusing on the aftermath of the apocalypse created by artificial life-form Skynet, the (real) rise of the machines, and of humanity’s desperate attempt to survive. Many people disliked Terminator 3, and granted, it wasn’t innovative like the first two films, but it had a nicely glib ending that defied heroic expectations. It was a lot better than what was expected. But Mc G? Seriously? I won’t even dare imagine what he would do- a pumping soundtrack full of Korn and Offspring tunes, brash colour schemes, peurile slapstick, and a cut every 3 nano-seconds, keeping the kiddies awake but spoiling any chances of such inessential elements like plot, or character. What doesn’t help is the scriptwriters: Michale Ferris and John Brancato, who may have scripted the acceptable Terminator 3, but also penned the atrocious Catwoman, and the ridiculously implausible The Game. Whatever happened to Josh Friedman, writer of War of the Worlds, and (ahem) The Black Dahlia? Well, his script is actually the forthcoming TV series The Sarah Connor Chronicles, due out early next year. All I can do is hope real hard that Mc G gets a letter of rejection in the mail. 3 Responses to “McG to Ruin… I mean… Direct Terminator 4?”Leave a Reply |
