The Fast and the Furious too old for you? Well, the same studio is working on a younger, more urban rival dubbed Lowriders.
It is being penned by Cheo Hodari Coker (Notorious) for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment. The idea originated from producer Brian Grazer who wanted to do a film that explored the low-riding car culture. These cars from the ’50s and ’60s came with height-adjustable suspension that ‘hugged’ the road. They were very popular in California amongst primarily Latino and Black teenagers.
Los-Angeles based tattoo and graffiti artist Mark Machado serves as executive producer.
