"Local Color"
“Local Color” is a coming-of-age tale from George Gallo about a young artist seeking inspiration from an experienced painter and freedom from his father’s old-fashioned ideas. Soft-spoken John (Trevor Morgan) would rather paint than play baseball and this worries his homophobic father John Sr. (Ray Liotta). John gets introduced to the impressionist paintings of secluded Russian immigrant Seroff (Armin Mueller-Stahl), who just happens to live nearby, and impetuously decides to get hold Seroff hoping the Russian will take him on as a student.
While their first meeting doesn’t go as planned, John’s perseveres (aided by his gifts of vodka), and soon persuades the gruff old master. Throughout the summer, both men discover new ways to see the world. In his early days, director Gallo studied with the landscape painter George Cherepov and his love for painting is apparent in every frame of this film. Rated R.

Local Color is a wonderful movie; any one who hasn’t seen it and could use a little inspiration-see it…it’s wonderful.
