Land of the Lost Poster

Land of the Lost is based on the classic television series of the same name. The film is directed by Brad Silberling and follows a erstwhile scientist (Will Ferrell), a crack-smart research assistant (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist (Danny R. McBride) who get pulled back through time and shot out into an alternate universe — one that finds them running from dinosaurs and weird reptiles called Sleestaks, while trying to figure a way out of this hybrid dimension. There will be zany stunts and ridiculous situations.

Land of the Lost shoots into theaters on June 5, 2009.

I’m really disappointed that Will Ferrell is going to be the father, which basically means that the movie is going go be a piece of crap made by people who don’t take the original show seriously. Yes, it’s campy, but to those of us who watched it loyally as kids, it was not a comedy. There was a chance here to make something really good and reignite the imaginations of a great many adults. Too bad.
