The Los Angeles Film Critics Association announced their 2009 winners this evening.
Kathryn Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker won best picture and best director honors from the Los Angeles Film Critics Assn.
Jeff Bridges won the actor award for his cunning role as a boozy, washed-up country musician in Crazy Heart. The film also won the group’s music honors for songwriters T-Bone Burnett and Stephen Bruton.
Yolande Moreau drew the actress prize for her performance as Gallic painter Seraphine de Senlis in Seraphine.
The supporting actor awards honored Christoph Waltz as the multilingual Nazi colonel in Inglourious Basterds and Mo’Nique as the abusive mother Precious.
Up in the Air was acknowledged in the screenplay categoryfor Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner’s adaptation of the Walter Kirn novel.
Stop-motion adaptation of Fantastic Mr. Fox, directed by Wes Anderson, won the animation prize,
The Los Angeles Film Critics Assn.’s awards dinner will be held January 16, 2009.
