Kittredge Family FilmLast night I went to a 4th of July party, I had a great time, with a fun group of people. A fellow teacher told me about the movie Kit Kittredge: An American Girl. She said that it was getting great reviews and doing quite well for a family film - it’s G-rated. First, I should tell you that I am not interested in American Girl dolls or in a film about one because they are rather costly if you consider the doll, clothes and accessories, which every girl does want to own, especially my daughter. My conversation with my friend sparked my interest because I have a daughter who is seven, and she might like the movie. I will just have to avoid the doll issue, somehow. So I went to the Kit Kittredge official site perused around, and now, I want to take my daughter to the movie. The cast alone means a great movie, which includes Joan Cusack, Julia Ormond, Chris O’Connor, Stanly Tucci and Abigail Breslin. What an ensemble! Cusack appears as a wacky librarian who can’t drive worth a darn. Tucci is a magician while Ormond an endearing mother of Kit, played by Breslin. I even perused Rotten Tomatoes, which rewarded Kittredge 6.6/10 or 79% Certified Fresh, “Refreshingly sweet and sincere, Kit’s doll-and-book-inspired do-good mystery may be geared towards the tween girl but will please audiences of all ages.” It looks like I will be in a movie theater this weekend enjoying an American Girl doll story. 2 Responses to “Kittredge Family Film”Leave a Reply |

I had a lot of the dolls growing up, and they were massive amounts of fun. Expensive, yes, but the quality definitely helps to offset the cost. I really like Abigail Breslin, so I think I will have to give this movie a shot.
You know Liz. That’s an excellent point. You get what you pay for. I am sure American Dolls are well worth it! Enjoy the movie.
