Keira Knightley Says No to Fourth Pirates FilmDecember 4th, 2007 in Actors, Celebs, Gossip, Idle Speculation, Movie News |
The film franchise that made Keira Knightley an international superstar actress will have to do without their leading lady in any additional sequels to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series. When asked about the possibility of a fourth Pirates film, she told a group of journalists today, “I can’t imagine doing another one. That was an amazing experience, it was, and totally extraordinary, [but] I think three for me is probably enough.” Is it just me, or does that sound more like an ultimatum: “Pay me more, or I’ll not be joining you.”
The third Pirates film, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”, which was released this past summer, brought in more than a billion dollars worldwide. The trilogy itself has made more than $2.5 billion worldwide total, which makes the third film a pretty massive success.
Knightley, if not holding out for more cash, might be moving on to other projects. She’s received rave reviews for her role in the upcoming “Atonement”, and has also since gained a fair bit of attention for her roles in dramatic films since her Pirates days.

The first Pirates of the Caribbean was great, not too sure about the other two, tho the special effects were top notch of course. if they come out with a fourth, do you think it will maintain the quality of the first?

I vote for the first one. It appeared as if the first one the producers worked harder at to make it a movie worth watching. Whereas the others seemed more pointless.
I’d love to see the female pirate aspect expanded. There were quite a bit of female pirates. Although the pirate culture back then was short-lived, there are some famous female pirates that the writers and producers can cull information from for a worthwhile adventure.
Priates usually fought for ships under the guise of a king or queen. Even islands Caribbean were won and lost over and over again by pirates. I have yet to see that aspect drawn out in the film.
