Karen Allen, Returning to ‘Indiana’

karen.jpg

Variety’s article about Karen Allen’s return to “Indiana Jones” franchise by David S. Cohen is quite charming, warm and entertaining. It’s hard to believe that 19 years has gone by since the last “Indiana Jones” movie.  Karen Allen was in the first, “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” creating a Tracy-Hepburn feel to the serial genre of Lucas and Spielberg.  At the time, no one was aware of the huge impact of the film, looking back, its quite magical.

With the May 22nd opening of “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” I recommend reading this article to reflect on the formative years of “Indiana” and the new and more wise renewal of “Indiana” today.

More Magazine has a great story on Karen in the June issue. And she looks amazing! More like 36 than 56. If you’re interested.

Thanks for sharing. I went to More Magazine web site and the June issue is not up yet; so I couldn’t take a peek — but I am interested.

I have always enjoyed Karen Allen — She was fantastic in “Starman,” too.

I just wanted to say that when you watch Karen Allen do her action scenes from Indiana Jones and The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, you have to admit she can take charge of certain situations indeed no matter what happens . Realizing Marion Ravenwood is up to put her game on this time know what I’m saying no doubt. At the age of 56 come on now she still got it going on and she’s fantastic shape while doing all of her own stunts compare from what she did over the years. Who wouldn’t thought that any other female action icon like Karen Allen can drive shot gun of a truck and going into another one that looks like a boat and going full throttle into the water rapids and then dropped three times at least while she’s holding onto the wheel smiling and laughing all at the same time .

    Lynn,

Thanks for posting. I have always liked Karen Allen and Marion Ravenwood. Allen’s persona is warm and engaging but she can be a tough lady as demonstrated in “Indy” films. Ravenwood is a character I’d like to see more. I wish I had seen more of her in “Indy 4.”

Yes, Allen’s in good shape doing all those stunts with the trucks, laugh and smiling. That’s what I love about “Indy” movies — just plain old fun, entertainment.

I was wondering if there’s any chance to send an e-mail asking some questions about playing her role as Marion Ravenwood has change her life and whatever happened to the money that she had already spend during the first film ? Who is her favorite influences that made her one of Hollywood female action icon right now ? If you had one Hollywood actor to do another movie project besides working with Harrison Ford who would it be and why ? Do you considered yourself as Marion Ravenwood to become as a role model for younger generation of actresses who wanted to become action hero themselves ?

Those are great questions. You might be able to find an Karen Allen’s official website. Or, filter the quesitons through “Indy” promotional department.

I would ask Karen Allen how she chooses films because she has played quite a spectrum of films over the last twenty-odd years.

Speaking of Karen Allen, I wrote an unsolicited script for a Starman sequel back in 1998. It was my first script and I quit college to finish it. It’s been gathering dust ever since. I sent it to Jeff Bridges and John carpenter, although I would prefer if Carpenter didn’t direct a sequel. I wrote some good f/x sequences and some interesting characters. I’m pretty sure I’ll never be involved, but I’d to see the f/x scene from the beach being incorporated, (Jeff’s manager Neil will know the one, totally plagiarised from another movie, but it would look great on film today). If anyone has any questions, email me at hansenfilm@yahoo.ie and I’ll answer them. (Although I won’t give away any plot points. And yes there is a son and indeed, I actually have the perfect casting suggestion!!

That’s awesome you wrote a sequel and finished it. It would be interesting to see how the sequel would flow. Perhaps sending it to Karen Allen might help too.
