Justice League Flick May Lend Reynolds his Flash

Though the future of the Flash franchise has been in question since David Goyer has been replaced by Shawn Levy, there seems to be new life in the character with the rise of a proposed Justice League of America flick.
In a brief interview over at IGN, Flash favorite Ryan Reynolds remained hush-hush over the possibilities, though he stated interest in the role (as either Barry or Wally, showing some comic book knowledge on Reynolds’ part).
Though Reynolds might not have been smash hit to Blade completists in the role of Hannibal King, he’s certainly the spitting image of the fast-talking, lightspeed superhero the Flash, who is definitely on the roster according to IESB.net.
But a Justice League flick might serve a more practical purpose - to introduce new characters to audiences, doing away with those pesky origin stories which take up so much of most starting comic flicks. But a JLA flick is not without its disadvantages, and cost is just one of the problems.
The main issue seems to be what to do with pre-existing franchises like the back-to-basics Batman Begins, continuing in 2008 with Dark Knight, and the indefinitely up-in-the-air sequel to Superman Returns. The studio is, rumor has it, even considering dropping Brandon Routh in the role of Supes.
IGN considers Bat’s role to the biggest stumbling block. However, this isn’t anything new. If DC/Warner Bros. wants to go ahead with plans for a Teen Titans, they’ll have to figure something out, especially in the case of the leader, Nightwing. The Batman franchise is years away from even touching the origins of Robin, the Boy Wonder who grows up to be Batman’s estranged protege Nightwing.
Though Justice League of America looks like - and will always look like - a long shot-in-a-million shot for us fanboys, it is encouraging to see the studios putting this much thought into the proceedings and the possibilities.
