Jon Stewart returns to host Oscar 2008

You’ve probably already read that Jon Stewart is going to take a second crack at hosting the Academy Awards next February. By announcing the hosting already, film fans miss out on the debates about who actually should be hosting the show. I keep hoping that the producers will get really creative and invite the occassionally cross-dressing Eddie Izzard or the truly hilarious John Waters to host, but I doubt that’ll happen.
At the very least, Stewart as host is better and funnier than the movies he’s actually appeared in. What films you may ask? Let me put it this way, when the best movie on your resume is Big Daddy, there might be a problem. Among Stewart’s other films that he’s probably wish weren’t so readily available on DVD are The Faculty, Playing by Heart and Death to Smoochy.
As far as recent Oscar hosts go, while Stewart isn’t as outrageously funny and to the point as Chris Rock, He’s not dull as Ellen DeGeneres. While hosting the Academy Awards can be a real challenge, I guess if you’re Jon Stewart, it beats having to make Death to Smoochy II. And considering the films he’s been in, hosting is as close as Jon Stewart will ever get to the Oscars.

Ellen was the best Oscar host EVER. That show was SOOOO funny. I really don’t understand how you could think otherwise.

Izzard? that would be awesome, seeing the confused people’s faces trying to figure out if he’s a guy or a girl alone would be worth it
