Production Weekly reports that Dwayne Johnson is set to star in Disney’s remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo. Whatever happened to Will Smith? I am not complaining. I like Johnson. But the trades were reporting that Smith was going to star in the remake. I am just curious what happened.
Anyway, Disney is fast tracking the production with McG all set to direct in Australia. The classic story is follows a whaler who teams up with a naturalist, a mysterious woman and a captain of a futuristic submarine, to search for a lost underwater civilization that holds libraries of vast knowledge and a weapon with the power to destroy mankind.
