Jon Hamm, Golden Globe nominee for “Mad Men,” will star with Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly in a remake of Robert Wise’s sci-fi “The Day the Earth Stood Still” for Fox.
Hamm plays a NASA official, Dr. Granier, who recruits Helen (Connelly) for the scientific team investigating an alien’s arrival on Earth. Reeves plays Klaatu, the alien with a simple message: Live in peace or be destroyed.
He next stars with Josh Lucas in the independent thriller “The Boy in the Box.”

I love Jenn, but can barely tolerate Keanu. What a conundrum…I’ll probably check this out if I hear good things.

It’s is such a classic done so simple and direct that it’ll be hard for me to see it any differently. Robert Wise’s version, only one to date, is my favorite classic science fiction movie, next to Michael Curtis’ “The Thing.”
