Is Justice League Pic a Mo-Cap?August 23rd, 2007 in Actors, Books, Movie News, Sci-Fi |
IESB.net reports the planned Justice League of America flick could be a motion-capture CGI production similar to Beowulf, The Polar Express and Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within. There are several variables working in favor of this potential development - such as the recasting of Batman and Superman as well as reportedly early production start.
Though Christian Bale - who will not be playing Batman in the picture - told the website, “It’d be better if (JLA) doesn’t tread on the toes of what we’re doing, though I feel that it would be better if it comes out after Batman 3.” - the franchises would be hard to connect if one was almost entirely computer generated.
I’m not completely sure what to make of this rumored development. Though people are incredibly excited about Beowulf, I have still not seen a mo-cap film which completely stands up to its real-time brethren, and I have a feeling that - even if Beowulf is a major breakthrough - I won’t see one for a very long time. There’s also the issue of Reynold’s supposed Flash spin-off - will they stay consistent to the movie’s alleged format and remain mo-cap as well?
There is a bright side to this though. The photo-realistic quality of Alex Ross’s work - see right - is the perfect reference point for a Justice League picture. If they can get Ross involved in the concept stage, it would knock this film literally out of the ballpark.
