Ever wondered what is the most anticipated movie, scheduled for release, for next year? Well, according to a recently conducted poll for U.S. moviegoers, Indiana Jones’ fourth installment came out on top.
“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” the latest film of the franchise, topped the survey. The much anticipated film directed by Steven Spielberg is followed by the new Batman movie, “The Dark Knight.”
Completing the top 10 are films that came from existing film franchises, like “Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.” Surprisingly, the only original films are “American Gangster” and “I Am Legend.”
“The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” starring Harrison Ford as adventurer Indiana Jones, will be released worldwide in May 2008, nearly 20 years after Steven Spielberg and George Lucas last brought the heroic archaeologist to the big screen in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.”
Based on the results, the top 20 films are listed below:
1. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
2. The Dark Knight (Batman Begins 2)
3. National Treasure: Book of Secrets
4. American Gangster
5. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

“American Gangster” is based on a real person.
“I Am Legend” is based on the Richard Matheson novel and has already been adapted twice. “The Last Man on Earth” with Vincent Price and “Omega Man” with Charlton Heston.
Neither is an original storyline.
