“Hotel Chevalier” Won’t Precede “The Darjeeling Limited” in Theaters

hotel-chevalier-portman.JPGPrevious reports suggested that Wes Anderson’s short film Hotel Chevalier would appear prior to the theaterical screenings of his latest film, The Darjeeling Limited. But now it appears as if such rumors were incorrect. While the 13-minute short film starring a scantily clad Natalie Portman will play prior to screenings at festivals and on the movie’s eventual DVD release, it won’t be shown when the film hits theaters later this month. What a bummer.

Hollywood Elsewhere is, however, reporting that the short film will be playing online which is great for those of us who don’t have the liberty to attend a film festival but still want to catch a glimpse before the DVD release. It’s a smart move putting it online anyways, because you know it’d find its way there some way or another, and most likely illegally.

Hotel Chevalier is a prequel to The Darjeeling Limited, a film starring Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson, and Adrien Brody as three estranged brothers treking across India in search of spiritual enlightenment and in hopes of repairing their brotherly relationships. It opens in U.S. theaters on September 29th.
