Hollywood Lost a Dear FriendWhen I heard about Johnny Grant, Honorary Mayor of Hollywood, passing today, I felt sadden for a brief moment, then smiled realizing how he was a true fan of the Hollywood scene while being apart of the glamor. What I didn’t know about Johnny Grant until today when I read the news of his death was that he was an American radio personality, television producer, actor in a couple of movies and worked with Bob Hope on his USO Tours. Lastly, an intersection just north of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue is designated “Johnny Grant Way.” I always saw his mug when he held the hat as mayor to be present at Hollywood community functions. Of course the unveiling of new stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was his biggest and best gig. Please take pause to give Johnny Grant a moment of wishing him a pleasant journey to his next gig.
