Monday, September 24th, 2007 is probably going to be largely the kick-off for the 2007-2008 season – that is of course when Heroes debuts. The NBC super-series has left vivid clues and major castings scattered through the newsbeats this summer, though very few actual facts about the major characters already established last season.
Not surprisingly, Heroes is the water cooler standard at work, so my sources this time around are no longer Variety or IGN, but instead, a guy named Sam, who told me one character will suffer amnesia in the beginning of the season, and another alcoholic-tinged depression. His guess was Peter and Nathan respectively, though I responded the both scernarios could be seen for the telepathic Matt Parkman, who was last seen rushed to the E.R. after a confrontation with Sylar.
With a jagged rollar coaster ride through the rating race, Heroes was a surprise hit no matter which was you cut it. The one question – among many others – geared towards the show remains – has NBC done enough to prepare for the ratings plunge suffered by the show during the unbearable hiatus? The ad I saw read “New Season. New Stories”, perhaps hinting at “Heroes: Origins”, which could potentially bring plenty of new stories into the fold before long.
Expect a full review in September, as well as all the coverage you can sink your teeth into until then.
