In some rather shocking news, it has just been revealed that actor Heath Ledger was found dead. He was 28.
While the details of his death remain sketchy, it is known that Ledger had scheduled a massage session in his New York apartment this afternoon. The masseuse was let into the apartment by a housekeeper, who found Ledger’s body. Apparently, some pills were discovered near his body, possibly suggesting that Ledger committed suicide.
Ledger was born and bred in Australia, making a successful transition over to Hollywood. His engagement to Brokeback Mountain co-actor Michelle Williams ended late last year.
Ledger’s death is without doubt a saddening loss to the world. His career started with him adopting rather shallow, pretty roles in films such as The Patriot and A Knight’s Tale. But lately the actor seemed determined to prove his acting mettle. He portrayed half of the moving and tender homosexual relationship of Brokeback Mountain. Candy was a gritty story about the lives of drug addicts, and he even played a large role as one of Bob Dylan’s personas in I’m Not There. His final role in the forthcoming Batman sequel, The Dark Knight, finally saw Ledger break free of his earlier image with a truly unnerving performance.
His death, whether suicide or not, is a great tragedy.

Yes. I am sadden by his passing. But, don’t be so quick to speculate. Let the authorities see what happened before reporting anything else. Sometimes getting to the truth takes time, let them do their job, then report the truth.
Most importantly, my heart goes out to his family and, especially, to his little girl.
