The Hamptons appears to be a popular destination for twenty-somethings to get themselves killed, as Austin Chick is reported to be writing and developing an untitled Hamptons-based thriller for Screen Gems.
It is being described as “Cruel Intentions” meets “A Simple Plan”, with the story revolving around three early twenty-somethings – two brothers and one of their girlfriend – who, while vacationing there, come upon a cache of money. The trio get involved in an increasingly complex plan to dive it up and elude the money’s true owners; there will also be a love triangle, as expected.
The film is expected to start shooting in March 2009 on Long Island, with casting to be announced soon.
