Maggie Gyllenhaal is replacing Toni Collette of the role in Mendes untitled relationship comedy.  Gyllenhaal plays the character who is a bohemian college professor and an old friend of the lead character played my John Krasinki.

Mendes’ film, which also stars Maya Rudolph, is about a young couple who travel around the U.S. searching for a place to put down roots. Dave Eggers and wife Vendela Vida penned the original screenplay.

Collette left the film because scheduling delays on the shoot, which recently got under way in Connecticut. Gyllenhaal begins filming her role next week.
