Variety reports that James Gray is now attached to direct The Lost City of Z for Paramount Pictures and Plan B. Brad Pitt is set to appear in the film.
Gray will adapt the film from David Grann’s upcoming non-fiction book about British soldier and spy Percy Fawcett – played by Pitt – who left Victorian society to explore the Amazon. Fawcett became obsessed by the idea of an advanced civilization he called “Z”, which he believes existed in the depths of the jungle. He headed into the jungle in 1925 along with his son and was never seen again.
No starting date for the project was given.
