The Golden Globes Awards were announced in 35 minutes as a press conference with no
celebrities or recipients on hand.
“Atonement” and “Sweeney Todd,” were named the top movies of 2007. Of course, Joe Wright’s film “Atonement” wins. Perhaps, the romantic film will be in more theaters, so the film can move up in the box office score. “Sweeney Todd” is a pure Burton gem.
No surprise here in the drama category: Julie Christie, won her first for “Away From Her.” Daniel Day-Lewis won for “There Will Be Blood.” Both deserve these wins. I can’t think of anyone else who even came close. Both have won in the critics awards as well.

I was really surprised Atonement took best drama. I was sure it was a toss up between No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood.

Yes, I know what you mean. With “Country” and “Blood” getting so many accolades from other associations, I thought, for sure “Country” at least. Day-Lewis, even though it’s hindsight, was a sure winner. I am very delighted for Christie; I have always enjoyed her performances — she has a very unique persona that comes across the screen — awesome.

I put Away from Her into my Netflix queue last night. As well as Shampoo (which I have never seen). I know Away from Her is mostly getting recognized because of Christie, but that’s kind of exciting for Sarah Polley as well. I wonder if she’ll step into the role of director some time again soon.

Yes, Sarah Polley, I would like to interview.
You’ll love those movies — Shampoo is a classic.

That’d be hard to do because the Foreign Press have a lot of pull; actually, the show is quite fun to watch, no time limits on acceptance speeches and it’s very relaxed and comfortable.
