The movie Blindness is based on Jose Saramago’s book “Blindness.” The story allows the readers to embrace the idea of humanity for those who are forced to rely on each other when their sight has left them. The blindness is a while glare, which results in chaos, degradation and lack of civility.
I have two copies of the book “Blindness” by Saramago. As we all know, the book is never like the movie. Although you may find some similarities.
You have a chance to win the book by posting your name and I will draw the winners Thursday, September 25th. Good luck!

Have not yet read book and curious about movie. Hopefully it will not use the stereotypes of blindness that are in our culture. That of people who are helpless and unable to function by themselves. Nothing could be futher from the truth. Training and technology have given people with low vision or who may be blind, the tools to live life independently and productively. Any film that does not bring out the truth would be disrepectful and unsensitive to the many people who live very successful lives in spite of their vision issues. Making this essentially a “horror” movie with becoming blind as the horror will be a major step backwards in the struggle to educate people about living with blindess. Indeed, if such a scenario were to take place, those who are already blind would be our salvation as they show the rest of the world that being blind is not the end of your life. I hope people will take the time to learn more about blindness and meet people in their community who may be blind.
