Screen Gems has used its best pickup line to get Beautiful Girl from Pulitzer prize-winning author Michael Cunningham, who penned The Hours.

The story follows a shy, but intelligent high-school girl who returns for senior year after having slimmed down six dresses. She then proceeds to flirt with the handsome English teacher which turns out to be a problem due to the fact that the teacher’s obsession with the student compels him to exact maniacal revenge on those who were cruel to her.

Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher are onboard as producers.
