The wait for fans of the FOX drama ‘Standoff’ ends tonight at 9. The show focuses on the FBI Crisis Negotiation Unit that negotiates in hostage situations. The summer run is most likely the end for the critically acclaimed show. Matt Flannery (Ron Livingston) is the main character in the show and is joined by Emily Lehman (Rosemarie DeWitt) Cheryl Carrera (Gina Torres). The strong acting has not brought in the viewers that FOX thought it would and the show will probably go to the television graveyard after only 19 episodes.

The show, running until 10PM tonight, features a relationship between Matt and Emily that left it as a sort of Romance/Drama that muddled the films focus. It is a shame that the writers of the show will not be able to better tie up that angle of the show because you could sense they were building up to better explore both characters. The show is worth a watch if you find yourself surfing channels tonight.

Thanks for the press for Standoff’s return, Frank! Standoff has convinced me that Ron Livingston has got to be one of the better actors on television, and that this show deserved far better than it got, from FOX or the mainstream media. We loyal fans haven’t given up hope, though! We never expected it to be on the fall schedule for ‘07 anyway…we’re hoping for a midseason replacement, Summer series, or webisode setup…we can dream can’t we?

And I’m glad you brought up the arc of character development over the series…Ron Livingston recently commented that the upcoming episodes are the best they’ve filmed yet, so tune in!

(If you have no idea what Standoff is about, or you’ve forgotten, you can view the first 11 episodes of the season online at http://www.myspace.com/standoff …I recommend “Partners in Crime” or “Borderline”)

This show deserves alot better push than it has ever gotten from FOX. They have no clue how to market anything. This show was worth waiting for in my opinion. It will do well on a Friday night, and is just the ticket for the new found and popular group of people who are looking for summer time entertainment as well as other times of the year.

Standoff should be brought back as a mid season replacement and or as early as possible in the 2008 season.

I’m so excited that Standoff is back on!! Friday nights episode was amazing!! I can’t wait to see the upcoming episodes! I heard that the new eps are supposed to be better than the first 11. I wonder what’s in store for my two favorite negotiators next!?!?

‘Backfire’ airs Friday on FOX @ 9pm!

I absolutely love standoff! i am so excited that they brought it back for this short while. I really hope they put it through for next year. they should work on putting commercials out there. i have never heard one for standoff; not a single commercial or ad. that is just sad people. here’s to hopeing that someone if not fox, picks up standoff for a second season!
