It isn’t always uncommon for acting and politics to go hand-in-hand; just look at Ronald Reagan or Arnold Arnold Schwarzenegger. Today, former Indian President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has confirmed that he will be making his acting debut in the upcoming Bollywood film Mein Kalam Hoon. The movie is a children’s film, so don’t expect to see Kalam fighting a gang of baddies. He will be playing himself, as well.
Fellow colleague actor Golshan Grover had a few words to say about Kalam’s role in the film: “Everyone is free to dream, so dream big. Abdul Kalam plays himself. The story, set in Rajasthan, is about a boy who is inspired by the former President and dares to dream big.”
French actress Sophie Brosstel will also be starring in the film. Mein Kalam Hoon is scheduled to debut first at the Cannes Film Festival, followed by other festivals around the world.
