‘Forbidden Planet’ Finally Gains Writer

forbiddenplanet The long-in-development remake of Forbidden Planet, a classic ‘50s sci-fi film, has finally gained a writer – J. Michael Straczynski, the creator of Babylon 5 and Changeling.

In development at Warner Bros., the remake will tell the tale of an expedition sent from Earth to check on a colony of scientists on a far-off planet. They find two members, a man and his daughter, with the former having doubled his intellect using alien technology. Oh, and they have survived an unseen monster roaming the planet.

An obvious take on Shakespeare’s famous play “The Tempest”, the original starred Walter Pidgeon and Leslie Nielsen.
