Fletch Sequel to Star Joshua Jackson?

June 11th, 2007 by Frank in Actors

jacksonasfletch.JPG It’s been talked about for some time now, but it looks like the much-talked about Fletch sequel - Fletch Won - might finally get off the ground. Previously, it was going to be directed by Kevin Smith and star Jason Lee as Fletch, but then Smith left and Lee dropped out. And then…. it was rumored that Zach Braff was going to come in as Fletch. And now, IESB claims that they’ve got the inside scoop on the project, which now has a new director and new star.

The rumor is, Steve Pink (director of Accepted) is now taking over as director, and that former Dawson’s Creek star Joshua Jackson will play the role of Fletch.

Should this pan out, it could help revive Jackson’s waning career. Since the ending of Dawson’s Creek, Jackson has starred in a few straight-to-dvd movies, a few low budget theatricals, and has made a variety of TV cameos. But so far, he’s not played in any majorly significant roles.

Is Joshua Jackson really the right person to be playing Chevy Chase’s once iconic character, or do you think they could have done a better job casting?

Just caught Urban Legend on cable this last Saturday… If there is a god this is all some kind of sick sick joke. However when I put my tie back on I can understand it. This could never and will never be the Fletch we all remember, this one isnt for us. And so to appeal to the kids today a charming face from their sitcom cell-phone past might make some money. Pink comes as a surprise for this, McG must be busy.

I’m very excited to see this news. LOVE Joshua Jackson, most especially for his comedy talents. The fact he grew up to be smokin’ hot can’t hurt.

This is the second time I’ve seen mentioned that he has been doing “a variety of TV cameos” since Dawson’s Creek ended. Someone got ahold of the wrong information and keeps spreading it around, apparently. This is false.

He shot a pilot that didn’t get picked up, but other than that has taken lead roles in a few independents and co-starred in Bobby to great reviews. Just finished “Battle in Seattle” with Charlize Theron and then another lead role filming Japan that last few months with a relatively new-to-the scene actress Rachel-something-or-other(she is in that Transformers movie this summer).

GREAT to know we have more to look forward to. I think he is a perfect choice for Fletch.
