avatarToday at a Comic-Con panel for Avatar, an upcoming epic 3D film, a teaser image was released. James Cameron will be directing the movie, who is known for such blockbuster titles as Terminator, Rambo, and Titanic.

The movie is about a man who embarks on a journey to save his civilization. Any more than that would just be major spoilers for what looks like a very good film.

The panel mentioned that the official trailer will be uncovered come August 21st, known as “Avatar Day”. Additional footage will also accompany the trailer, which will be released in every single format; IMAX 3-D, IMAX 2-D, digital 3-D, digital 2-D, and 35mm 2-D. This means that you will actually need a ticket to go see a trailer and experience it in its rich, 3D glory. In addition to the movie trailer, a trailer for the video game adaptation will also be released.

Note that this movie isn’t to be confused with M. Night Shyamalan’s cartoon television series adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
