The word is out on the Internet movie sites that Jeffrey Katzenberg is paying out millions to air the first 3-D movie trailer for Monsters vs Aliens during the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 1, 2009.

A couple of commercials for the event aired during the Chargers vs Colts football game yesterday on NBC. Apparently DreamWorks has a partnership with Pepsi and Sobe and will be distributing the required 3D glasses at displays stands, as seen above, at your local retailer.  I wonder if this will bring more people to the Super Bowl or more people to the movie.

This feat reminds of the commercial Steve Jobs aired during the 1984 Super Bowl promising to harness the power of computers.
