Fans of the “Watchmen” comic book series eagerly anticipating the movie’s release will be thrilled to know that filming has finaly wrapped up.  The film’s official blog posted a short note today from exec. producer Herb Gains, indicating that principal photography has wrapped in Toronto.

The film, however, will not open until Spring 2009.  The huge gap between the end of filming now and the movie’s release indicates the large amount of this movie that will be produced on a computer rather than a soundstage.

According to Gains, “Watchmen” will be “something very special.”  He also said that he was shocked that director Zack Snyder was able to shoot all of the things he had planned on shooting.
