Yesterday saw the release of the movie trailer for Fierce People, which stars Diane Lane, Anton Yelchin, Donald Sutherland, Kristen Stewart, Elizabeth Perkins, Paz de la Huerta, Blu Mankuma, and Chris Evans. It’s a bit of an indie flick, so it won’t be getting a wide release. Instead, it will open on September 7th in New York and Los Angeles, and then will expand to the top 10 markets on September 14th. Beyond that though, we don’t know what will happen with it.
Anton Yelchin stars as sixteen-year-old Finn who’s trapped inside his mother’s Lower East Side apartment. All he wants though, is to escape and spend his summer in South America with the anthropologist father he’s never met, studying the Iskanani Indians, a.k.a. the “Fierce People.” But that dream is shattered when Finn gets arrested trying to help his drug-addicted mother, Liz (played by Diane Lane). Finn’s mom tries to get their lives back on track, and moves them into a guest house on the estate of one of her former clients, billionaire Ogden Osbourne. Living on the estate of the super-rich, however, thrusts them into a dazzling world that neither of them is prepared for: the world of the rich. The struggles and adventures they must encounter here are just as dangerous as those they would face in the land of the “Fierce People.”
It’s an interesting storyline that sharply contrasts the life of the tribal “Fierce People” with that of the super-rich, exposing the dark side of the world of the wealthy. It’s rated-R for language, drug use, sexuality/nudity, and some violence. You can get a taste of what the film is like by checking out the all-new trailer below:
