Fear of Surveillance Cameras?

eye_210×0.jpgApparently, Adam Rifkin believes that people have no freedom because of surveillance cameras. That is hard for me to believe. I personally don’t care if a surveillance camera takes a shot of me. According to Rifkin, Americans are captured on surveillance cameras at least 170 times a day mostly without their knowledge. This produces millions of hours of footage revealing the nature of those hidden secrets. On December 14th, LOOK, a new film written and directed by Rifkin, puts people’s private lives out there for everyone to see. I would like Rifkin tell me what possible hidden secret could a surveillance camera reveal? Perhaps, I should see LOOK and find out.

Shot entirely from the point of view of the security cameras. Adam Rifkin’s LOOK follows several interweaving, storylines over the course of a random week in a random city.

A high school English teacher tries his best to be a decent husband; a department store floor manager uses the warehouse for more than just storage; a Mini-Mart clerk has big dreams; a lawyer struggles with a sexual dilemma; and two sociopaths thrive on ruining the lives of random strangers. LOOK tells five private stories which unfold before the prying eye of the covert camera to chilling effect.

OK I tell you what happens cause it happened to me. My wife and I have been having a tough time fighting on and off for a year or so. We decided to get counselling and things have gotten better. About two months ago we had a real bad fight and I was pissed. I went to a Hotel on the other side of town and hung out in the bar. Met a hottie and one thing led to another. Next thing I am leaving with her in my car. We get to her place and I had sobered up a bit and decided - bad move dude…said good bye and left. What I didn’t know is I ran a red light and got snapped by a hidden camera. The ticket came to my house with the picture that shows a chick next to me. Guess who opened the envelope and saw the picture. Guess who is filing for divorce…things always aren’t what they seem

It’s like all these guys who record cell phone video of hot girls on the subway while pretending to text (like they have a signal down there). They are playing with the video later…even uploading it to YouTube without their permission. Is that legal?

    Kenna,
You must not be very imaginative if you can think of NO hidden secrets a Surveillance camera could ever reveal. How about a husband sneaking into a porn store? How about a daughter going to a Planned Parenthood? How about a cop hitting a perp a few more times than neccessary? Shall I go on…and on and on and on!

    Hey…
Are hidden cameras really needed in our life?
    Well,
    I don’t think so.
