Emmy Short List Revealed!

Emmy Award nominees won’t officially be announced until July 19th, but TheEnvelope.com has reportedly already gotten their hands on the Emmy nominee short list. Judges last week came up with the top 10 contenders in each category, best drama and best comedy. New kids on the block Heroes and Ugly Betty are amongst the top ten.
From this list of ten, five nominees will ultimately be chosen to compete. The final five will be chosen based on a combination of the panelists’ votes and polling of the general academy membership.
The best drama finalists are reportedly: Friday Night Lights, Rome, The Sopranos, Lost, House, Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes, Boston Legal, Dexter, and 24.
And, those on the best comedy short list include: Scrubs, 30 Rock, The Office, Desperate Housewives, My Name is Earl, Extras, Ugly Betty, Entourage, Weeds, and Two and a Half Men.
Of those listed, my pick for best drama would be Rome, and my pick for best comedy would be Entourage. Gotta love HBO! Which shows would you like to see win?

I want to see Lost as Drama and I gotta say, just because it’s not quite as well-known as the others and it’s the reason I now love Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock for Comedy.

Hmmm tough call for the drama but I guess Rome would have to take it. As much as I like Lost and Heroes they’re not exactly ‘meaty’ dramas, more toward the action/adventure end of the spectrum.
For comedy it has to be Extras. Hands Down. Not sure if it’s season 1 or 2 that’s nominated in the states but either way that show is pure gold.
