Elvis Presley: The Ed Sullivan Shows: The Performances is available on DVD . The colle
ction of Elvis’ three memorable appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show attracted a record-breaking audience when they first aired and are available for the first time ever.
Elvis Presley turned the world upside down when he was introduced to the nation in these three unforgettable episodes from The Ed Sullivan Show. I am awed watching this young man who is unbelievably wild and a treasure of talent that you need to experience for yourself . His sex appeal is so strong and yet so new, even now.
You will see why Elvis became the legendary King of Rock and Roll! Appearing on the show Sept. 9, 1956, Elvis sent shock waves through a repressed nation with his soulful singing, wild hip gyrations and raw energy, attracting a record-breaking TV audience of more than 60 million people. Presley returned on Oct. 28, 1956, continuing to provoke ecstatic screams with hits such as “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Love Me Tender” and “Hound Dog.” In fact, these exhilarating performances were so explosive that Elvis was filmed above the waist during his final Sullivan show appearance on January 6, 1957.

I am extremely knowledgeable of everything Elvis, from his first to his last personal appearance, heard and seen all his interviews, watched all the movies, the TV specials, have seen over 200,000 photographs of him with fans, read about 145 of the 1,234 biogrpahies in print of him but, nothing, and I mean nothing, beats the way he introduces, then launches into a shortened version of “Hound Dog”.
“As the great philosopher once said…” BANG!!

I should point out that I am referring to his delivery of “Hound Dog” on the first of the three shows, namely on September 9, as opposed to the far better known version of the same song, as delivered in the second show, which took place on October 24th. Watch them back to back, if you can, and you’ll see the difference.
In the first show, the version is shorter, but he’s loving every second of it, all 60 of them (LOL).

The quote of John Lennon: “Before Elvis, there was nothing.” says it all about that great artist of all times.
Here I’ve tried to collect all notable tributes paid to Elvis Presley by peers: http://www.tributespaid.com/quotes-on/elvis-presley

Dawood,
Nice quote. I’ve always liked John Lennon. Do you have any holiday quotes about Elvis?
