Whedon just hasn’t had much luck lately – his highly anticipated return to television Dollhouse has fallen flat on its face, having pulled in a mere 4.7 million viewers this Friday night.
The numbers make it the lowest-rated scripted series premiere on a major broadcast network this season. On the other hand, it did better than the midseason return of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which it was paired with – it pulled in a series low of 3.7 million viewers.
While this does not bode well for the future of Dollhouse, such numbers are commonplace for sci-fi series. Hopefully viewership will increase; if not – then it’s goodbye to another good series.

I think the show will get better. Shame on fox for putting it on Friday though. Expected these low ratings and it actually could have been worse.
