The WGA selected Diablo Cody as winner of its original screenplay award for “Juno” and Ethan and Joel Coen, yet another award this season, for the adapted screenplay trophy for “No Country for Old Men.”

The WGA West scrapped its usual black-tie awards ceremony last month due to the strike. However, the WGA East held a modest “recognition reception” ceremony attended by about 400 at the Broadway Millennium Hotel in Gotham.

Cody’s whimsical tale of teen pregnancy, a specialty film that’s been running in the top ten box offices for weeks now, crowned as the top original script for this season.

The Coen brothers’ adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s novel concerning a Texas crime spree, which has been winning overwhelmingly this award season, won over the adapted scripts. A complete list of winners is available at WGA.
