Directors Guild Awards were announced yesterday. The Coen brothers’ “No Country for Old Men” is the only nomination that isn’t new to the acknowledgment. Coens were nominated back in 1996 for a favorite of mine, “Fargo.”
Other nominations that stand out of me are Tony Gilroy for “Michael Clayton.” Gilory’s work stems for the “Bourne” films as screenwriter. “Clayton” is his fir
st directorial film.
Julian Schnabel who directed “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly†is on the list of nominations. He’s a former painter who blended into a career behind the lens. He acknowledges other directors who inspired his work his whole life.
At complete list of the five nominations DGA.
