June 8th, 2007 in Actors, Celebs, Dvd, Movies, War, classic

It was bad news for fans of Sean Connery this week when he decided that he would stay in retirement and not appear in ‘Indiana Jones 4′. So how does one get over such a thing?
Here is a plan. Grab just released on DVD ‘The Hill’ and watch it this weekend.
You can see what kind of talent Connery had by critically acclaimed 1965 release ‘The Hill’ that has been released on DVD this week. Some say that Connery deserved a best acting nod for this role. The movie is a portrayal of a British Army “glasshouse” (detention camp).
Here are some of the awards the film won:
BAFTA Awards
* Winner Best British Cinematography
* Nominee Best Film
* Nominee Best British Film
* Nominee Best British Actor (Harry Andrews)
* Nominee Best British Screenplay
* Nominee Best British Art DirectionCannes Film Festival
* Winner Best Screenplay
National Board of Review* Winner Best Supporting Actor (Harry Andrews)
Writers Guild of Great Britain* Winner Best British Dramatic Screenplay Awar
So, while we fret that Connery is enjoying his retirement, let us look back on his career that brought us so many highlights. And, just thorwing this out there, could it have been that Connery just saw a dud in the script of ‘Indiana Jones 4′. If so, he could be doing us all a big favor by not ruining his legacy.
