Depp to Replace Ledger in “Doctor Parnassus”?

January 25th, 2008 in Actors, Gossip, Idle Speculation, Movie News

johnnydeppledger.jpgThe plot thickens. Just moments after we revealed that production has been halted on the set of “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”, in which Heath Ledger was supposed to star, the British Sun is reporting that actor Johnny Depp may be recast in his role.  Keep in mind, the Sun isn’t quite known for accuracy, and there’s a good chance this is just another of their wild, made-up stories.

According to the Sun, Depp may replace Ledger for the remainder of the film that hasn’t yet been shot.  There is apparently a point in the bizarre film where “Ledger’s character falls through a magic mirror.  He could change into another character after that and that is where Johnny Depp would come in.”

I wouldn’t put much faith in this rumor, but it would be nice to see Ledger’s final work make it to the big screen instead of the dumpster.  Nevertheless, he’ll probably still be known for his final role as the Joker in the upcoming Batman film, “The Dark Knight.”
