Variety reports that Neil LaBute (The Wicker Man) is set to direct the Chris Rock-led remake of the 2007 British comedy Death at a Funeral for Screen Gems as the first of a two-picture deal.
The America-set remake, written by Chris Rock and Ayesha Carr, revolves around a dysfunctional family that gathers for the patriarch’s funeral where tensions rise and old conflicts are unearthed.
LaBute and Rock has previously worked together on the black comedy Nurse Betty. The directors second project as part of the deal will see him handling Nina Colemans romantic comedy Here Comes the Sun.
