berg_peter.jpgPeter Berg who just finished shooting Will Smith’s “Hancock” is talking to “Edwin A. Salt” people about directing the Tom Cruise film.

“Salt” revolves on a CIA officer named as a Russian sleeper spy (Cruise) out to assassinate the president. While trying to reunite with his family, he grapples with trying to prove someone else is the conspirator.

Berg has never directed Cruise, but both worked together as actors on “Lions for Lambs” and “Collateral.”

I have a feeling Berg will do fine with Cruise; especially, if Will Smith (good friend of Cruise), who just worked with Berg, gives him his endorsement.

“The Kingdom,” which is out on DVD, is Berg’s most recent work.
