Last May, I had the opportunity to attend one of Francis Ford Coppola’s presentations primarily designed for film students. Part of the presentation was a documentary on the making of his forthcoming film, Youth Without Youth. Based on the excerpts, Coppola’s new film could be one of the most beautiful films of this year, and a return to form for this past Oscar winner.
Unlike some of his more recent films which were works for hire, Coppola produced this new film with the profits made from his wine company. Based on the novella by Mircea Eliade, the film was shot in Romania, and stars Tim Roth and Bruno Ganz. The U.S. release date is set for an Oscar qualifying run on December 14 through Sony Pictures Classics. Below are two links -
