Superhero Hype reports that Dirk Blackman and Howard McCain have been hired to rework the script for Conan for Lionsgate. The site also notes that the writing duo’s action-adventure screenplay Amazon, which has Scarlet Johansson attached, is also moving forward at Lionsgate.
The Conan film is being produced by Paradox Entertainment president and CEO Frederik Malmberg along with others from Millennium Films. Earlier drafts of the film were written by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, marking the project as a resurrection for the dark hero.
The new writers are going back to creator Robert E. Howard’s original stories to create a $100 million R-rated original film, which the site notes is to be the largest production to date for Lionsgate and Millennium.
